Overview & Structure

An expanded version of the Olympic Development Program, Colorado Select offers development and next-level identification opportunities to elite players and those who want to become elite.  Colorado Select is available to all players and will offer a year-round supplemental training and development program to selected pool players in addition to international and domestic showcase opportunities for identification at the college, professional and youth national team level.

Colorado Select will replace the Colorado Olympic Development Program in order to allow our players and teams expanded opportunities for exposure at Regional and National ODP events in addition to other highly selective and scouted events.  We want to offer Colorado Soccer Association players the best opportunity for identification at their personal “next level” and we feel confident that by expanding our vision and opportunities beyond ODP, our players will get better competition, more opportunities for identification, and a better overall experience. 

  • In an effort to make Colorado Select available geographically to as many players as possible, Colorado Select is divided into three platforms: Front Range, Mountain Region, and Young Olympians. Read more about each platform below.

    Front Range

    • Available to Boys & Girls in birth years 2014-2009 (12U-17U)

      Tryouts are held in June and July to evaluate players and consider them for the Select team. A state pool is then formed of 30-40 players, which will train two sessions per month.

      A first team of 16-18 players will be formed after the state pool training sessions to attend the ODP Championships in Phoenix, Arizona in early January. A second team of 16-18 players will be formed of players that were unable to travel or not selected for the ODP Championships will attend a secondary travel tournament to represent Colorado.

      Scouts will be present at the ODP Championships and the secondary travel tournament to evaluate players and invite them to the West Region ODP Camp held in Salt Lake City, Utah at the beginning of July. From this camp, a team of 16-18 players will be selected to travel and compete in the ODP Interregional Event held in Orlando, Florida at the end of January, in which the West Region compete against the three other regions in the country (South, Midwest, and East).

      At the ODP Interregional Event, there will be scouts present to select a team of 16-18 players to travel and compete in an international event in Spring of that same year.

    Mountain Region

    Young Olympians

    • Available to Boys & Girls in birth years 2016-2015 (10U-11U)

      This is a pre-Colorado Select program that allows players the chance to participate in regionalized trainings sessions and be evaluated by the State Coaching Staff. Young Olympians will take place on four days between June and August in different regional locations – Colorado Springs, Central Denver, Northern Colorado, and the Western Slope. Player registration allows players to participate in all four training centers. Players must attend at least one session to be evaluated and considered for travel to regional events.

  • The state only charges enough to operate the program and to ensure the right resources are put into making this program the ultimate experience for our players. For planning purposes, please be aware that costs will be incurred as your player continues to be selected. We try everything in our power to keep the costs minimal while also trying to compensate our exceptional coaching staff for their time, travel, and commitment to the program.

    • CO Select Tryouts – $165 (4 training sessions, CO Select Training Shirt)

    • CO Select Pool – $150 (2 training sessions/month + extras closer to travel events)

    • CO Select ODP Championships Travel – $700-900 (does not include airfare)

    • CO Select Cal North Friendlies Regional Event – $500-700 (does not include airfare)

    • Young Olympians Program – $150 (4 training sessions, CO Select Training Shirt)
