Adult Player Pathway

When you are registered with a CSA-sanctioned league, you become part of the larger soccer world. Registration with your team that plays in a sanctioned league means you are affiliated with Colorado Soccer Association. CSA is affiliated and sanctioned by US Adult Soccer Association, which operates as part of the US Soccer Federation. The US Soccer Federation oversees youth, adult, amateur and professional soccer players in the United States and is sanctioned by FIFA, the world governing body of soccer.

Insurance Claim Overview

All registered playing members of CSA are provided with a secondary medical insurance coverage. Payment will not be made for any expenses incurred after 52 weeks of the accident date. If you need to submit a claim for an injury, please click the appropriate link below.

CSA provides insurance coverage for league and tournament directors to include as part of their annual player registration fees. These comprehensive plans protect players, teams, leagues, and CSA in the event of claims arising out of soccer activities organized by CSA member organizations. The accident policy covers medical and dental expenses during sanctioned amateur soccer activities. The general liability policy protects members and CSA in the event they are sued for incidents involving bodily injury or property damage resulting from an amateur soccer activity.

Information for Players

CSA players receive one of two levels of insurance, depending on what their league or tournament directors offer. These include Participant Accident Insurance (PAI) or Supplemental Player Accident Insurance (SPAI).

Participant Accident Insurance (PAI) is intended to act as a secondary policy to a CSA member’s primary insurance. If no primary insurance exists, claims may be paid through this policy. This policy covers up to $5,000 in medical/dental coverage associated with a legitimate injury sustained by a CSA member during a CSA-sanctioned soccer activity.

Available at the league level for an additional fee, Supplemental Player Accident Insurance (SPAI) covers up to $25,000 in medical/dental coverage. For a player to be eligible to enroll for this coverage, the league in which the CSA member is registered must fully opt-in (that is, all players within the league must elect to pay the required premium).

How to File a Player Accident Claim

If a CSA member is injured during a sanctioned activity, he or she can submit a claim for potential reimbursement of medical costs.

  1. CSA provides the accident claim form once requested from the league manager.
  2. Before submitting the form to USASA, the injured player must submit a fully completed and signed claim to the league manager for verification.
  3. The league manager must deliver the paperwork to the office (in person or by e-mail to adults@coloradosoccer.org.
  4. In addition to confirming a player’s registration in a CSA league or tournament, the verification also includes the referee/game report that substantiates the injury.
  5. After USI Insurance receives all the paperwork from the CSA office, the injured player will receive a letter confirming the claim process initiation.
  6. An injured player must follow instructions from USI Insurance.
