DENVER, Colo. -  Regis University Assistant Vice President and Director of Athletics David Spafford announced Kelly Brown as the new Head Regis University Women's Soccer Coach for the 2020 campaign.

"I would like to thank David Spafford and the search committee for the opportunity to return to Regis University, an institution that has a very special place in my heart.  I have been a Ranger as a player and an assistant coach, and now have been given a chance to lead an extremely respected program as it's head coach" says Brown, "J.B. Belzer has left an incredible legacy; one for which I am extremely proud to represent again, while looking to continue to build upon.  I will work hard to develop our players on and off the field, pursuing new heights and maintaining the excellence they have established as student-athletes. I can't wait to get started."

Brown played soccer for Belzer as a Regis Ranger in 2006-07 where she was named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Freshman of the Year. She earned All-RMAC First Team, and All-Region honors as she led the team in points, assists, and game-winning goals during her freshman season. Three years later, Brown returned to Regis, this time as an Assistant Coach under the tutlege of J.B. Belzer. She helped the team go 44-17-4 in three seasons, seizing one RMAC Tournament Championship, and two regular season titles. The team made three National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II Women's Soccer Tournament appearances, advancing to the second round twice.

Most recently, Brown served as an assistant coach at the University of Colorado, Boulder. While there for three years, Brown was the Coordinator of Performance Analysis and Director of Camps. Previous to that, she was the Assistant Women's Soccer Coach at Colorado State University. She holds an Advanced National Coaching Diploma from the NSCAA (2012) after receiving her National Coaching Diploma from the NSCAA in 2011.

"We had a very strong candidate pool for our women's soccer head coach position. As we went through the process it became apparent that Coach Brown's coaching experience in intercollegiate (Division I and II) and club soccer, Olympic Development Program experience in the Rocky Mountain Region, and her knowledge of the Rangers would enhance the programs storied success. I am excited to bring one of our own on board to continue the success of Regis Women's Soccer", said David Spafford, Assistant Vice President and Director of Athletics.

Brown becomes only the third head women's soccer coach in the 32-year history of the women's soccer program at Regis. With her extensive coaching background, Brown expects to continue and enhance the long tradition of excellence, on and off the field, that the women's soccer program has established at RU.

Welcome back to the Ranger family, Coach Brown!
